Societal breakdown from organized societies into a sort of "war/warlord society" that never ends is disturbing to say the least.

It feels like at some point the only folks in power can have all bad intentions and those who are powerless can't do anything but try to survive day to day.

Nation building is a dangerous thing, but if I were magically leader of the US ... it would be tempting to ponder taking countries that are so broken down and trying to establish some order. It's not like the civilians there want it to be this way.
