Ask HN: Has remote work made you happier or just lonelier?

Remote work has changed the dimension of work culture. At home, you can have the flexibility and comfort but is it the only thing? Have you ever thought that you are completely left alone and not interacting with anyone? You're only friend is that laptop. Is that really good for you and your mental health?

I worked remotely from home for 12 years and never thought that. 80-90% of my work day was interacting with people. I could have used a little less interaction with work colleagues many days. Then there was the in person interaction with friends and family after work and on weekends.

Nope, not really good for mental health I know but I am trying to stay physically active by doing some exercise. Sometimes taking short trip on weekend but yeah its too costly to stay in metro or big cities.
