Engagement = % of Humanity's Time Hijacked and Wasted

"Engagement" is an evil metric.

If the metric you are using could be meaningfully applied just as easily by drug dealers and casino owners, you've fucked up pretty badly.

Yes, this is a low-effort post, but I just spent 5 minutes on the LinkedIn feed and I needed to blow off steam.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

there should be a word for 'has helped humanity in this way.' like a benefit that something has to the world.

But, there isn't. It's all to siphon off time and energy from people for whatever reason so that it can be used to peddle bullshit to investors.

It's just how it is.

if so many people are disgusted by the state of things, why do they persist ? I used to wonder about how North Korea regime still persist even though it's really bad for almost everyone living there. Now I see some parallel with Internet. We all hate it, we all show up on it first thing in the morning

Most humans try to make the best of most situations and lack one or more attributes needed to enact real change such as monetary resources, connections, charisma, good health, stamina, intellect, etc.

> "Engagement" is an evil metric.

You're dealing with evil people. Now watch them flood in to justify their evil.
