important for China national security to diversify off oil - the Malacca straits is a choke point often cited as key vulnerability.

Solar/ Wind / Hydro / Nuclear + UHVT lines + mass battery infra to power the new manufacturing economy, leaving un-mined coal in the ground as un-bombable strategic reserve

Important for all countries, except maybe oil producer countries, for that exact reason. Importing energy is high risk for any country. Solar and wind are locally produced, less prone to have chock points and as a plus they are environmentally friendlier.
