The obvious problem with FSD is the fact that it isn't FSD. It is now FSD Supervised --- which is an oxymoron --- kinda like jumbo shrimp.

The less obvious problem with this sort of marketing is that it lulls some drivers into a false sense of complacency.

If you actually do the active monitoring that Tesla says is required for FSD, it takes nearly as much attention and effort as driving.

So why pay extra for something that mainly temps you into risky behavior?

A problem for Tesla and Musk is that this sort of gamesmanship can lead to a loss of credibility --- as this survey showed.

Exactly, if I need to keep my hand in the position you see often in videos and I need to keep an eye on everything I can drive my self. The best part is, that Tesla itself says that for most crashes which happened FSD was turned off a few seconds before the crash - so no liability. As long I need to take care it’s useless.

I still wonder why there is no push to make car to car communication a thing. Or make road signs/the street itself emit signals. In combination with others sensors it might increase reliability.

The Electric Vehicle Intelligence Report for August, published by political consulting firm Slingshot Strategies, polled 8,000 Americans. Only 14% of those surveyed said FSD would make them more likely to buy a Tesla, while 35% said the technology would make them less likely to purchase one.
