The less obvious problem with this sort of marketing is that it lulls some drivers into a false sense of complacency.
If you actually do the active monitoring that Tesla says is required for FSD, it takes nearly as much attention and effort as driving.
So why pay extra for something that mainly temps you into risky behavior?
A problem for Tesla and Musk is that this sort of gamesmanship can lead to a loss of credibility --- as this survey showed.
I still wonder why there is no push to make car to car communication a thing. Or make road signs/the street itself emit signals. In combination with others sensors it might increase reliability.
