From the article: some experts are concerned Chinese vehicles could represent a security risk from hackers and third parties.

Drivers are unsafe now from US and EU vehicle manufacturers - all of which are deeply and continually surveilling drivers and their environments. US/EU corporations are free to exploit the public with that data and are fully devoted to doing so. It is the first priority that needs addressing.

While Chinese corporations are no more trustworthy than their US/EU counterparts, Chinese corps do not have the same access to US/EU citizens. Being out of reach makes US/EU citizens safer.

US/EU citizens should be out of reach of exploitive US/EU corporations but a pervasive dearth of ethics (govs & corps) keeps this off the table.
