Show HN: Job Shield – a job trust verification platform
The problem: Job scams are increasingly common and costly. In Singapore alone, job scams caused losses of over SGD 156 million last year. Current protections are reactive, they kick in only after victims have reported a listing, by which point data is already harvested.
What I built: JobShield is a prototype that scans job listings in real time using rule-based checks and pattern matching to flag high-risk or suspicious posts before they go live. It can run as a standalone tool or integrate with job boards and government portals.
Technical details: Built as a standalone SaaS with future middleware capabilities, Flags risky patterns like requests for personal documents without proper credentials, Designed for scalable monitoring across millions of listings and multiple regions, and Current prototype scans scraped listings and flags results for vendor or agency review.
Current status: We are in Phase 1 of a 3-phase plan. The prototype works and has been piloted with agencies, with focus now on refining detection accuracy and onboarding early adopters.
Founder note: None of my co-founders are technical. I am a hybrid founder non-traditional but hands on, who designed and built the prototype myself using no-code and AI-assisted development. My role is to define, design, and direct the product while leading future technical hires.
I’d love feedback on: 1- How scam detection should be presented to jobseekers without causing false panic. 2- Whether you would try a public version that lets anyone paste a job URL for verification. 3- Other use cases you see for real-time job listing verification. 4- Whether having no purely technical founder still plays a big part in early-stage success if the prototype is already built and functioning
