DC was scheduled to ban cellphones for school kids this coming school year, but is getting some pushback from schools (mainly around staffing and logistics, as I understand it). City council trying to figure it out. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/education/dc-public-schoo...

I'm curious how this will play out with states' latest revisions to their educational requirements, especially with respect to history, civics, "social studies", etc. (And how much of that is driving this 'movement'.)

Compulsory schooling is a much more intrusive encroachment of rights that we all pay for to make sure the encroaching works.

That is true, however that is already in place, while this is an additional encroachment.
