Despite modern VPNs, global CDNs, impractical technical level ban on any web service: how come X and others simply do what the government tells them?

Is it the fear of fines? That never deters them from collecting more data though.

X does what goverment tells them when they don't mind doing what goverment tells them. They resist when Musk minds the action.

Why resist? They've captured governments well enough. They don't need leverages for political infighting.

Powers to oppress the users and precedents to normalizing it, OTOH, is nice(to them).

I have to admit, for brief moment i was optimistic when musk announced, he will fix social media (twitter). Long time ago.

This notion of censorship or filtering, but this time the right -- your way, is the same problem only with a different sign. If musk would realize that most people, no matter their political views, see it this way and will seek new platforms eventually, he might do something positive about it. Maybe.

Because Musk doesnt care about democracy in Turkey. He just think free speech is for MAGA.

Social media platform X blocked the account of jailed Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, a rival to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan whose detention sparked nationwide protests.
