Definitely not an entirely alternative solution.

It requires LoS between each point, which means max distance would be maybe 30 miles on totally flat ground without towers, or drones keeping a constant point, to act as a hop between points without direct LoS.

Their 5ms claim is dumb. Of course you wont get 5ms latency from starlink, or even kuiper, they are in space, ~350km away, and have to traverse the sat network to a ground station. With RU1, You can only get 5ms within the direct LoS range, otherwise you start adding latency for each relay and their distance. You cant fix that, its physics. You might get max 5ms point to point, but again, relaying through the mesh to the endpoint, adds time.

I do see this as beneficial in some uses; emergency response comms, as a quick example, but its absolutely not a starlink or kuiper alternative. Both of them provide the mesh, and groundstations to get you across the world.
