I guess no one at the Pentagon watched Terminator... and, no, I'm not worried about a sentient AI like in the movie. I'm much more worried about a) a buggy AI that confabulates the world into a conflict yet insists its right or b) one that can easily be hacked by foreign agencies or even just a bunch of script kiddies who think launching a nuke is fun.

Of course launching a nuke is fun! Mother Earth/Gaia/Isis/Ianna/Ishtar/... told me so.

TLDR: The Pentagon is racing to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its weapons systems, sparking fears of a future "doomsday machine" that could escalate conflicts or even launch nuclear war. AI experts warn that the Pentagon's reliance on AI could lead to a loss of human control over critical decisions, including the use of nuclear weapons, and that the current lack of understanding about how AI works exacerbates the risk.
