Ask HN: Why has Google not created a function to order your YouTube playlists

When you’re watching a YouTube video and decide to save it to a playlist, you have to scan for the playlist folder you want to save to. It’s very inconvenient if you have many folders because they can’t be sorted alphabetically during the Save To moment. Over time you have this collection of unordered names. Yes, you can sort it in YouTube Studio but still manually one by one. I’m sure Google can build a sort function but is there some dark pattern design why they choose not to? Researching this common complaint brings up reasons like to keep you engaged or enraged rather. Is this non-feature deliberate or just something forgotten?

I limited my playlists to avoid this. But still have the issue where YouTube tries to guess where I want to save it and always gets it wrong. Sometimes I notice, but often times I don’t. Then 6 months later I’m looking and a playlist and wondering where all this random stuff is from.
