Ask HN: Future of Learning and Personal/Professional Development?

Assuming the desirable purpose of education is to ennoble fully realized individuals (maximum agency and autonomy?), is it possible the internet could be used to both quantify and qualify individuals aptitudes, skills, and abilities without placing an enormous economic burden (effectively indentured servitude) on individuals and families? My gut says the result would be a veritable and perpetual renaissance (but I'm also high on coffee bean and simply wondering what to do with my own personal volitional energy at this point in my life.)

Edit: Perhaps the larger question is, if we had a mechanism and perspective available that would uproot/replace parasitic or otherwise harmful social institutions, how might cobra problems (people not wanting to lose what they've earned through effort, hard work/dedication, and experience, or dogmatic beliefs ultimately rooted in fear) be resolved?
