RE "...The former Meta executive claims that a law requiring tech companies to ask permission to train AI on copyrighted work would ‘kill’ the industry....."
Meta has $Billions - Why not pay artists?
Artists do not owe others to give away their works so others ( mostly all ready very rich ) may profit more for themselves.
Why not Meta offer PROFIT Share to artists to use their work Now and pay later ???

Can anyone explain why killing that industry would be a bad thing?
> However, Clegg said that their demands to make technology companies ask permission before using copyrighted work were unworkable and “implausible” because AI systems are already training on vast amounts of data. He said: “It’s out there already.”
In other words, “we’ve been stealing everything and built our business on that theft, it would hurt Meta if they were held to accountable for all that theft”.

More like Meta’s demands are unworkable.
