Ask HN: What search engine are you using that is not Google?

Time and time again I find myself pushed away from google. Be it the current AI overview fad, the unethical content sourcing practices, the SEO obsession or any number of things.

I always try to use duckduckgo for a few days, am disappointed in the results, and switch back to google.

If you are using something other then google, what are you using? Why? How happy are you with it?

I'm not posting this to discuss google. If you use google and just disagree with my assessment of it, I don't need your response.

Kagi. I've found it to actually surface what I'm looking for. It also allows you to block/promote/demote sites in your results.

Duck duck go. It's good enough.

Actually, the funny thing is that while DDG might not have improved much over the last years, Google voluntarily degraded their search result.

So weirdly enough DDG is better.

I guess i sometimes use Brave search for basic stuff. I used to have SearX going.

But i'm pretty much completely moved over to chatgpt or other AI as search engine replacement.
