I think the race is over and everyone is afraid to be the first to say they've done it. They want to keep it quiet while they work toward super intelligence.

I also don't think that this will be a 1 and done. I think multiple models will eventually achieve super intelligence.

Universities have a competitive advantage. Some of the smartest people teach some of the smartest kids the latest greatest science. Who in that context is able to innovate with new ideas that couldnt have been thought about until then. These kids are often pre-family so they are focused on the goal.
Yet for a few decades universities lost this greatness despite the obvious advantage. Why?
