European countries generally don't like American hire-and-fire and other labor practices. Musk made it so much worse all on his own, and labor unions are pretty powerful when you piss them off too much.

Perhaps this story should really be about why EV sales seem dramatically lower. Was there some change in laws, economic conditions, etc?
Audi has three E-TRON models and every one of them sells better than Tesla.
