The Tesla robo-taxi launch date in Austin was supposed to be June 12th.[1]
Today is June 9th. Real Soon Now.
The launch date has become more vague recently.[2] That article is amusing. It mentions the Texas' weak regulation of self-driving as a big advantage for Tesla. This is opposed to California's supposedly "heavy-handed" regulation. Yet all the real self-driving companies operate in California. Only Tesla complains and goes elsewhere.
There's a prediction market, if you want to bet against Tesla.[3]
"the market, not regulators, should decide whether a technology is safe or acceptable."
Speaking for myself but as part of "the market", I'm not letting a Level 2 vehicle drive me around without someone behind the wheel.

One problem with this is that the car is going to kill or hurt more people outside the car with the car than kill or hurt people inside the car. One of the reasons that large vehicles like the Cybertruck are popular (not necessarily the Cybertruck itself, it isn't popular) is that in an accident, they crush the other things, not get crushed.
So the market that purchases them might enjoy enough safety, but you or I outside the vehicle find it super dangerous. We are not "the market", unless we pay protection money to keep it from being sold.
