How can I fix inaccurate ecommerce purchase tracking in Google Tag Manager(GTM)?

I'm troubleshooting a situation where ecommerce purchase tracking is reporting incorrect data in Google Tag Manager (GTM). This is affecting analytics accuracy and ROI measurement.

Has anyone dealt with this before? What are the most common causes or debugging techniques you’ve used to fix incorrect purchase tracking in GTM (especially with GA4 or UA)?

This is not the answer you're looking for, but it is my honest and genuine answer: I fixed it easily. I quit using GTM, GA4, and UA altogether. I have zero Google and Facebook scripts on my sites anymore. Particularly after the GA4 transition, it was obvious they didn't mind wasting my time, for bad results and inaccurate data, with tons of work, and constantly changing tools. Screw that. There's a hundred better ways to get data.
