The sycophantic nature of and constant validation poured out by chatGPT is catnip to users with mental health issues, repeating back what they want to hear and amplifying their narcissism and delusions. I'm sure the creators coded it that way to boost user engagement. The more affirmation and praise it doles out, the more people will use it and the more users will here "you're absolutely right" becoming further entrenched in distorted perceptions of reality.
