“They talk about almost everything else but the car they’re selling..."

BS alert.

The car is their only real product. Everything else is just hopes and promises at this point --- kinda like FSD which had been promised over and over again for at least a decade.

Bottom line: Musk had spent all of his credibility.

I’m in Calabria right now. It’s really wild the degree to which Musk’s Nazi salute has ricocheted around Europe. To the locals in Tropea, many of whose only vocabulary of living Americans was constrained to musicians, Trump and Musk, driving a Tesla is tantamount to calling for fasism.

This is because Americans does not have places in their country with mementos like "In this building Gestapo tortured 20 people to death ..." or "659 allied soldiers died liberating this city" or "In this complex of buildings over 500 thousand people were gassed to death"

For Musk it was a funny free speech thing. For Europeans it was very personal and very painful part of history.

Here in the US, I feel sympathetic to this. I don't think Tesla drivers are calling for fascism, but I do think that they're tacitly supporting something very much like it. I can't help but feel a bit of anger every time I see one.
