I don’t see the controversy. It’s not reasonable for a passenger to take up room that other passengers next to them are also entitled to. On the other hand, seats have become smaller and smaller over the years. I don’t know if someone has measured the trends over time but it would be interesting to figure out how many people are forced into buying two seats today that would not have had to do that in 2000.
