There's a chronological link between Trump's original condemnation and when he would've been watching a FOX News piece where Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) was badmouthing the Intel CEO.

Absent evidence that Intel is being targeted for extortion (like with Paramount/CBS) the likely difference here is just that Trump had heard something different from the last person he talked to before giving his own opinion.
