Show HN: PeekaTube – Preview YouTube summaries without opening the video

I made a free Chrome extension that summarizes any YouTube video, right from the homepage.

You can read the summary before you click, so you never waste time on clickbait again.

This solves my own frustration: I was tired of clickbait videos that bury one minute of value in a 20-minute runtime.

Why it's different:

Unlike other summarizers:

- It works directly on the YouTube homepage, search results, and channel pages.

- You don't have to open the video first to get the summary.

How it works:

- A "zap" button appears at the corner of the video.

- Clicking it gets the transcript and generates a summary with gemini-2.5-flash-lite.

- The summary appears in 3-4 seconds, letting you decide instantly if the video is worth your time.
