Ask HN: What's your AI flow for development?

I've seen lots of different blog posts detailing different ways that people are using AI for development.

Some people love the ultra fast speed of querying 5 different commits for the same feature, going for coffee and then reviewing the best commit after.

Others swear by their "engineer-centered" flow that copilot gives them.

Others stay clear from all the tools because they have been bitten by an over-reliance on AI and felt their skills atrophy.

On top of that, there are an abundance of tools with new ones coming out every week. New models, each one cheaper or faster than the previous but with tradeoffs.

So what's the flow that works for you?

Over-reliance on AI tools is probably going to be seen as one of the great mistakes of this generation of engineers.

I use AI to work through certain problems or help with semantics. 99% of the actual work still comes from my experience and skill.

My workflow is the same workflow I've always used. Work until I get stuck, have a five minute conversation with a colleage who may be slightly drunk, extract any useful information, then attempt to integrate that while I get back to work.

It's a tool to solve problems, not do work.
