I think this point is moot without recognising that the online platforms are all western market focused.
Even on Reddit, r/popular promotes subreddits which have a large western audience.
Since their voice is promoted more, you have this kind of discussion taking more prevalence in the media, which in turn fuels more discussion on these social platforms.
If the OP wants to find balanced opinions, questioning these platforms is the first step.
Why do seemingly global companies like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, etc promote opinions disproportionately more from a certain geography to everyone else?
