I created a separate login with a Microsoft Account and a prompt advised that because my settings were being backed up there was no charge to extend support.

However, if you are continue to use an offline user account as I did, this page seems in indicate that you need to login to the online account at least every 22 days to keep getting updates: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/enable-e...
