There are reasons to move to renewables other than tackling human caused climate change.
For example: Oil, coal, gas are all finite. What is your plan for generating energy once these are used up or the only sources left are inaccessible?

A government stopping its own projects versus rescinding a private companies permits after it is 70% built for no reason are not similar at all.
