Eric Berger is pro NASA and this is less of an analysis of China's space programme and more a critique of Trump's policy against NASA, particularly his appointment of Sean Duffy, who is now seen as a MAGA apparatchik.

Eric Berger wrote two books about SpaceX and deeply admires the early engineers who made SpaceX successful in a tough commercial setting.

It happens that SpaceX (and Elon Musk) changed as it grew into a large, greedy company. Now, there is a culture of pushing boundaries well beyond what is reasonable and feasible. The proposed return to the Moon with lot of Starships is a good example.
