Ask HN: Should schools have a subject where students can think about whatever?

Specifically, schools could have a subject called "Unstructured Thinking", where students spend 30 minutes thinking on their own — without external sources — about whatever they want, and then write about any interesting (non-private) thoughts or ideas they come up with.

Would this be a good idea?

They have 16-20 hours to do that plus the weekends
