Can't say I understand how scrapping the holidays cuts the national debt, but points for the fun analogy from the politician proposing this.

On arriving in France to start a new job, I was surprised to find that the French don't roll-over to Monday those bank holidays which land on the weekend. Some years it turns out that quite a few do, and that's know as une année du patron.

Neither does Germany, and here some corrupt politicians are also discussing to scrap public holidays. Same scum everywhere...
