It doesn't. Its scripts were mostly written ~5 years ago. It's a show based on and returning to the roots of the darker sides of WW2 politics that have been in the roots of Star Wars since its origins in the 1970s. If you think these politics are new to the franchise, you haven't been paying attention.
The more depressing and more accurate question is why are the darkest parts of WW2 politics suddenly "contemporary" again?

Given that _Star Wars_ was released in 1977, two years after the end of the Vietnam War, it has always been a response to the political environment.

Right? Within 30 minutes of the first film you have a military tribunal discussing the dissolution of the senate. People who are triggered by politics in Star Wars have very low media literacy. (Sorry.)

I never found it very politically motivated, and this TV series doesn't sound like it either.

You never found the theme of "fighting the empire" politically motivated. Hm ok.
Despite some of us feeling under-represented, it appears that people like it - probably those that are now represented. “Shoehorned”, or just not making them for you anymore?
