Is there any evidence that people can notice improvements above about 220Hz?

There seems to be a worthless arms race on high monitor refresh rates and there are heavily diminishing returns past 220Hz.

I guess, on average, you could still gain a couple of milliseconds, of absolute reaction time from time to time in a game. If you are a pro, or like to cosplay as pro, that tiny advantage could add up. After a season of tournaments, you may get in an extra hit or two when it was extremely close between you and the other player.

Sort of like high-frequency trading but with humans.

This is my best steelman.
