Not much on her 2nd life, which is always the interesting part of these stories. Looks like the detective kept his word about being discreet. Her abandoned husband and children had to have suffered some effects of this, too. The youngest child is now at least 62 years of age. Weird to find that your long gone mother is still alive after a lifetime.

her "quiet" decades deserve their own spotlight.

Interesting story. Sadly, I don’t really believe this is the norm in missing person cases but it’s a nice thought that this woman was troubled in her marriage and was able to get out and start a new life.

I know many people will take issue with leaving kids, but frankly, a 20 year old having two kids is something we would balk at today by itself. Hard to imagine what that decision is like, but I can’t imagine there were effective remedial strategies for women complaining about their marriage in the ‘60s.

If somebody ups and leaves, were they actually missing?

They say that she's alive, well and has no regrets. Gotta feel bad for her now-senior children who only now get closure. Being raised by a single, potentially-abusive father during a time where social stigmas ran rampant must have been a lot less fun for her children.
