A reflexive reaction is to think this is bad: advertising, hallucinations, brainwashing vulnerable youth, etc. Viewed another way, I'd trust my kids around Google Gemini much more than on Fortnite or Instagram.

I get where you are coming from. However Gemini, at least the one the forced onto my phone, is kinda easy to be tricked into naughtyness.

This honestly feels like a really bad idea. And I'm an Alphabet/Google investor for like a decade now.

Isn't this when someone says "stop it before it gets to the children!" ?

But yes... it could definitely be bad. Do we know enough about LLMs to guarantee they won't eventually be feeding kids <fill in the blank bad thing here>? And while I think many people's worries about their kids are overblown, this one could actually be a legitimate reason to pull out the "think of the children" line.

This must be a proud moment for all of the Google execs.

I'm sure they feel the same sense of pride the tobacco execs did when they landed the first doctor as a spokesman.
