Populism managed to start the process to isolate and destroy the UK, and now is on the way to do the same to the US.

Well done, Rob Mercer and Vladimir Putin - you are not ideologically aligned, but you worked independently towards the same goal (for different reasons) and using different tools (Cambridge Analytica [1], state-sponsored propaganda [2]).

EDIT: One can only hope that liberal democracy is not just a nice idea, but that its implementation is robust enough to survive such double attacks. Right now it looks a bit like Harvard is fighting alone, modulo a few disgruntled federal government workers that got laid of and took to the streets. What has happened merits a much louder and broader outcry, much bigger than the Vietnam war, but social media is more subtle (and enjoyable) than napalm, and the question is whether the young generation are willing to protest to re-gain their future or miss out on the opportunity because they are watching Netflix and playing Minecraft instead.
