Interesting, I’m from Argentina and haven’t seen any resurgence in the cassette.
Perhaps I’m not in the indy circles that the author mentions, but that’s definitely not a mainstream phenomenon here.

Absolutely off-topic but I have a few friends from Argentina and they are the most positive and inspiring people I have met so far. Those guys are smiling and being happy for free. That's a country where I would move in if I had to change.

The article fails to mention the main reason cassettes were popular in my youth: mix tapes
The ability to record your own cassettes, with your own choice of music, and share them with friends was a huge part of what made cassettes a social media 8-)
This article mostly speaks about the media as being pre-recorded and sold by commercial entities.
