There have been a string of earthquakes around the Pacific I feel like. There was the other recent one and the same area but also rumblings at Mount Rainier and rumors of underwater volcanic activity off the US. Is this pattern something that has been seen historically (as a sign of something bigger) or is this just random noise?

If you read into these things it’s easy to see patterns and it feels like something big is happening. But there is still no way to predict earthquakes.

Hmm, there's just been a strong earthquake in Kamchatka in late July, and now there's another one.

Isn’t this kind of expected? It’s called an aftershock. Yes it’s a big one but it’s normal.

Remember this is an order of magnitude smaller than the July quake.
