In France, bread is subsidised, bakers have to co-ordinate their holidays so that the elderly never have to walk too far to get their daily half-baguette. Understandable, the last time they ran out of bread they decapitated the king. Best bread in the world of course.

Culturally, Europeans eat about twice as much bread as Americans. We also have bakeries and traditional recipes that are significantly older than the United States itself. So, it’s natural that bread in Europe tends to be better; we have more experience, higher consumption, a bigger variety of recipes, and more cultural appreciation for it.
Additionally, I believe that bread in Asian, South Asian, African, and LATAM countries to be better than in the United States.
