>impacts on gas giants like Saturn don’t leave behind smoking craters or visible scars.

Wow. This was not difficult to check. They even contradict themselves a paragraph after stating. Seriously, we need to return to editors and filters when publishing science facts online.

In fairness, they do say this later:

"Past detections of impacts on gas giants have mostly involved Jupiter, where dark impact scars or heat signatures were easier to detect. Until now, Saturn has eluded such direct visual proof."

Although that doesn't make any sense to me.

Saturn does have a much more uniform cloud layer so impact scars are less prominent as the mixed up gases are similar colors rather than Jupiter’s darker bands.
