For a very space and power conscious datacenter customer maybe. Building similar capacity (and way, way, way faster) storage from consumer nvme m.2 SSDs should come around 6,5K€ +VAT here. That's assuming you really need that much fast nvme storage for something. A hybrid approach will usually be much more amenable to a consumer sized wallet, only storing the live dataset in nvme and using HDD for mass storage

What are you using to provide the 16 m2 sockets in that theoretical system? Now I can't say I've seen a consumer board with u2 but I think it'd be easier to find 1 of those than 16 m2.

Some high end gaming motherboards have U.2.
If you don't have a U.2 connector, you can use a PCIe adapter card.
If you want 16x M.2 slots, you can use two 8x M.2 PCIe carrier cards.
