I'm curious to know more about how iGPU passthrough works with ESXi. Using KVM with Proxmox, passthrough of the iGPU to a VM resulted in the host losing it's video output. I wonder if this setup leverages SR-IOV to share the host's iGPU with guest VMs - Intel added this to 12th gen CPUs and the article says 12th gen or newer is required. Is that's what's happening behind the scenes, or does VMware passthrough the iGPU's functionality like Linux does to a docker container?

VMware/KVM/Xen GPU passthrough is for exclusive use by the guest.

SR-IOV GPU sharing requires more runes and hardware/driver matching.
