People hate him because he do everything to be hated.

The same reason I hate cancer. Musk is a threat to me and people I care about. His DOGE bullshit will, if it hasn't already, result in harm and deaths of people who have received assistance or support from programs in the U.S. and abroad.
My question is why this is even a question, and why should Musk care if I hate him? He's gone on record as saying that empathy is a weakness. Fine, I'll compromise -- if Musk wants a world without empathy, then I see no reason to extend any to him.
He's a petulant man-child who has more resources than millions of people combined, but somehow is not satisfied with that and wants to spend his time and resources making the world significantly worse. His companies receive huge amounts of money from government contracts, but he hypocritically targets government spending that benefits other people.
Plus... I'm just fucking sick of hearing about him. It's damn near impossible to go a day without reading about him and seeing his face. I didn't care much for several presidents in my lifetime, but you could go a few days without them being in the headlines from time to time. Not Musk. Every. Damn. Day.
Sorry, was this a rhetorical question? I could go on...

Name me a billionaire that doesnt have a group of haters.
Warren Buffet is generally loved, but he did earn his wealth in ways that would be extremely illegal to do today; and his investment strategy today has more to do with investing in monopolies or businesses that dont actually do anything like insurance.
The billionaires who arent hated are only that way because they gave away their wealth; so by not being a billionaire anymore. Bill gates will have to give away all his wealth in order to become loved. His genuinely good initiatives that improve the health of the world in meaningful ways is never going to be enough.
Elon on the otherhand is an idea guy. He looks at the year 2100 and asks himself, what will be different? Colony on mars? Fine i'll be the one to do it. Only making things worse.
What i hope is elon follows through with his automation. He might be able to pull through enough automation that people wont have to work and we go back to making beautiful things.

I don't think it's about love vs hate. There are plenty of billionaires who are neither loved nor hated, simply because they do not try to be in the spotlight. Elon, by virtue of being the marketing arm of Tesla and his other endeavors, needs to be in the spotlight. Well at least it used to be like that, seems that now it would be better for his companies stock prices if he disappeared for a while.

I bet there's plenty fairly anonymous rich people who don't have "a group of haters".

I think the problem is bigger than Elon Musk, though Elon Musk is responsible for adding fuel to the fire.
It’s this political culture where you’re either with us or against us, and part of being with us is not questioning the details.
Yes I’m corrupt, but I’m corrupt in a way that ultimately aligns with you’re values, and if you question any of that, maybe you’ll get the other guy who doesn’t.
It’s a game theory where I can say I’m right because I’m on your side and the actual details of my values/virtues don’t matter. It’s designed to be divisive.
