TB treatment can last years. It's endemic in PNG and a cohort of sufferers were being flown to Queensland hospitals for supervised intense treatment, when a stupid, futile immigration and "they're stealing our health dollars" political debate forced them home (until somebody important woke up and reversed policy)

You would think the risk of emergence of drug resistant TB in a poor economy less than 5km from our borders by sea would focus the mind towards protecting Australians..
