Show HN: GroupTab – grouped app switcher for macOS (TestFlight)

Hi HN, I’ve been working on a macOS app idea for a few weeks and I’d like to get some feedback before putting it on the App Store.

GroupTab is an alternative app switcher for macOS. You can arrange running apps into row based groups, cycle through apps in a group like usual, or hop between groups to keep context and cut clutter. It uses Option+Tab as the main hot key to bring up the switcher and arrow-keys or hjkl (while holding option) to cycle apps or groups (regular tab also works for cycling apps in a row). It’s meant for keyboard heavy users who juggle many running apps and also think that the default switcher can turn into a crowded carousel.

It keeps the native feel: MRU ordering for apps and groups, and Shift+Tab to reverse. Setup is simple, drag apps between groups and assignments stick or ([while holding option] shift + up-down arrows / k-j) to move between apps between groups). There's a default group for unassigned apps.

I’d love feedback on:

- Does grouping improve your flow vs Cmd-Tab?

- Rough edges, bugs?

- Performance and general UX feel
