What's missing in the remote work setups freelancers use?

I’m exploring how freelancers and independent workers structure their work environments. Most of what exists today falls into two categories: home setups (which can get isolating/distracting) and coworking spaces (which can be noisy, expensive, or not flexible enough).
But there seems to be a gap — especially for people who want focus, occasional peer connection, and flexibility without committing to a traditional coworking plan.
I’m trying to validate if this gap is real, and what kinds of solutions (if any) could actually work. For example: lightweight peer pods, alternative but scenic spaces, or community-driven models.
Curious:
If you freelance/consult, how do you currently handle your work environment?
What are the biggest pain points?
Have you ever tried alternatives to coworking spaces? Did they work?
(Not pitching anything, just trying to learn before building. If you’re interested in sharing more, I have a short survey too, but discussion here is more valuable.)
