Though I despise governments forcing ID checks like this online, for things like pornography I am happy access to it is being made harder for the vast majority.
There's nothing good about porn/easy access to it, it does nothing but warp perception of reality and destroy relationships.
Anyone who says it's "healthy" needs to get themselves evaluated. I've seen people saying they "need" porn to survive. It's a horrible horrible life.
I'll also say I am not saying this from a religious point of view but from a humanitarian point of view. Most participants in pornography are exploited individuals, most websites host non-consensual release of explicit material and frankly the entire industry is disgusting. Let alone what it does to young bright minds, marring their outlook towards sexual relationships.
Solve it through proper sex education not sexual content like pornography.
The Australian Government are likely serious about enforcing this. The current eSafety Commissioner is aggressive in policy, and we have an under 16s social media ban coming into effect soon[0].
COPPA only applies to websites that intend to be (or know that are) used by minors. Porn sites would all be exempt from the law, because they're all intended to be used only by adults.
