I skimmed the article. It was mostly anonymous or pseudoanonymous quotations of chats or message boards. The above poster is right to call out the partisan alarmism. This flavor of journalism isn't helpful.

I find it absolutely disgusting that a mainstream publication would blast the idea of partisan drone terrorism out into the public consciousness. The awful threat of this technology has likely been obvious to the HN cohort for many years, but that's not the case for most. Thanks to the guardian, many thousands of people will discover, for the first time, a new and accessible way to commit terrorism.

I'm all for an informed public. I honestly can't think of a single other topic where I thought media silence was preferable to open discussion. But as long as this brand of terrorism is merely hypothetical, spreading the word about it makes us less safe without any discernible benefit.
