At least 20 French nationals (including the consul and several priests/nuns) and dozens of Chinese converts were killed; Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901) - Thousands of Chinese Christians and hundreds of foreign missionaries and settlers (French, German, English, American, Russian, etc.) were massacred, in a widespread anti-foreign, anti-Christian uprising that swept across northern China.

sure, the Chinese killed Western Christians because they were xenophobic and anti-Christian, and certainly not because they had just suffered an invasion war from the West.
